Caris takes note of what she said. She hugs Lay Yu warmly and says “My sweet sister, it’s against my nature to be cruel or to lie, to anyone let alone the people I care about” and she pauses a moment and looks Lay Yu directly in the eye, “Your brother and I had an experience… unlike no other. Something passed between us on a spiritual level and I now feel this incredible bond with him. I’m drawn to him in the most profound way. This feeling.. it’s so hard to explain, but I can’t help but think there is so much more to the story between him and I. Now that I know he feels the same, I will speak with him.” Caris smiles broadly and kisses her on the cheek “and thank you for the approval!”
December 11, 2015 at 3:53 pm #1678Caris blushes and lowers her eyes in embarrassment. “Apologies, Lay Yu.. I must confess that I am out of sorts these past few days…” Caris looks up at her trying to keep the giddy smile from her face, but succeeds miserably. “I’m afraid it’s quite obvious that I’m overwhelmingly taken by your brother, isn’t it?”
Caris does another turn in the dance, carefully measuring Lay Yu’s reaction, while trying to not make things awkward. “I hope you don’t disapprove, do you?”
December 10, 2015 at 8:34 pm #1667Caris grabs Lay Yu by the hand and follows her into a spirited quick dance lesson on the edges of the grass where Hroth is now drawing quite an audience. She gets the movements down quickly and grabs Lay Yu by the shoulders and laughs, “This is fun! I think I’m ready to join the others, let’s go!”
December 10, 2015 at 4:27 pm #1660Caris squeals with laughter and claps her hands at the sight of her old friend in fine form. “My appologies Lady Lay Yu,” she gestures over to where Hroth and companion are dancing. “It’s just that I’ve never seen him dance! He’s quite good, don’t you think? Perhaps be better get started on that dance lesson!”
Caris finds her jaw dropping once again at the sight of Grey and his entourage. “My, my…” she giggles at Lady Lay Yu, while dramatically using her index finger to close her jaw. “Seems I’ve been doing this a lot today!”
December 10, 2015 at 3:34 pm #1648Caris’s stomach did a little flip flop at the sound of Daidoji’s voice. As she turned and their eyes met, the fire inside of her was fanned to almost a fever. Remembering her manners she smiled and greeted his companions.
“My goodness, Mr. Threnody, I had mistaken you for our companion Mr. Grey for a moment! You must be related?” Caris felt immediately at ease with Lady Lay Yu Quan’s charm and relaxed manner. “I would be delighted!” Caris said to her with a grin. What more will she learn about this man who is having such affect on her? The idea of a learning a new dance sounds fun, if not challenging but the idea of a dance later on with this man… sets her imagination reeling.
As Caris loops arm and arm with Lady Lay Yu, she looks over her shoulder at the still blushing Daidoji and flashes him a coy smile. Much to her own surprise, she even batted her eyelashes at him.. just a little.
“Am I flirting with him??!” Caris mentally scolds herself. It’s been so long since she’s experienced this kind of distraction in her life, it feels almost foreign. But at the same time, she welcomes it. The excitement is intoxicating.
[Is anyone rolling their eyes saying EW there’s NO love stories in DnD? ;)]
December 10, 2015 at 2:17 pm #1637Cariss goes down with the others to take in the festivities, she takes in all the sights, smells and sounds. She feels light and fresh after the soothing bath last night before bed. She wears her finest priestess gown of light green silk with dark green ivy delicately embroidered throughout. Her golden hair is braided and curled, with small white and blue flowers nestled among the braids. Her heart jumps at the sight of the Lord of Shin ling. He has never been gone from her thoughts ever since their ride together with the unicorn. She feels such a strange yet close bond with this man. Caris even felt a little twinge of jealousy upon seeing the beautiful dark haired elven woman at his side. She laughed to herself at her silly schoolgirl emotions, and made her way to the first tea stand.
As she came to the stand, she noticed a little girl and boy who must have been brother and sister standing there, wide eyes looking at her. She smiled at them placing her cup on the table she had made a simple design from flower pettals and leaves in the shape of a unicorn upon one side. As she placed a gold coin next to her cup she asked the children what kind of tea they were serving today?

She can’t help but grin back, and goes back to her breakfast. “So everyone… I see Grey here has decorated his own cute little cup.. are the rest of you down for a little arts and crafts?”

Caris wanders outside to find a quiet spot under a tree. She hears the village slowly quieting down as the blanket of darkness brings sleep for most. But she is wide awake. Caris closes her eyes and clears her mind. She readys herself to Commune with Ehlonna. For guidance, for closure, for peace.

The next morning, Caris is eating breakfast with the others. Gazing down upon the celebrators. Perhaps she will decorate her own cup. She notices Grey in the doorway. What has HE been up too? she wonders… Caris eyes both Stern and Grey, giving them “the people’s eyebrow” 🙂
December 6, 2015 at 8:45 am #1614“Yes, it seems that Ehlonna was with us on our quest. It’s humbling when I look back on all that has transpired… how she assisted me when I helped Daki, how she spoke to me in meditation, guiding us in what we needed to do, even while she was captive.”
Caris becomes quiet, the reality of all that has happened over the last few weeks(?) really begins to sink in.
She wonders to herself if there are loose ends that need to be taken care of here, or if we should all get going and not linger. These gates, should they be sealed in order to deter any more trouble in this land? Should we drop the idea of bringing books to the gatekeeper? Where is Gray? Why is he acting so strange (or more strange than usual). What is Grognak doing… why is he so quiet? Hroth is snoring in the corner peacefully… Caris looks to Stern to try to get a read on his face. Suddenly Caris feels very disconnected.
“Pardon me, but I am feeling tired. If you don’t mind, I’ll excuse myself for the evening…”

Still.. it was disturbing that he also spoke with Grimeye with the same neutral indifference to who was evil and who was good. It didn’t seem to matter to him as he appeared to be above all of it.”

You know… we found ourselves below ground under the Six Lives Monestary where we came upon this amazing creature, a guardian… who let us pass and ultimately free the Unicorn. He was a giant creature with amazing talents… he carved his chamber with such intracesies.. and all he wished for was books. A curious request, but then again.. not so much so, considering he was bound to that gate for all eternity. I questioned his intentions… but he gave us no harm.. and ultimately lead us to the chamber in which to free her. His only request was for books. I know these books are precious to you.. but do you have any duplicates, or any that you would be willing to donate to this guardian who played a role in our ultimate success? I ask this with full understanding of the importance of these books to you…”
Caris glances at her comrades… I hope I didn’t overstep…
December 4, 2015 at 5:24 pm #1607Caris shudders at the thought of a mountain of rotting worm flesh plaguing the city and forces the image out of her head. “It’s admirable how much value you place on knowledge and preserving the books of your past.” Caris says to the Shrine keeper. “Tell me, which one is your favorite and why?”
Caris wonders to herself if they have any duplicate copies of books or books they would part with that we could get to the guardian under the Six Lives Monestary…..
